Recreate the Cover Contest: Losing Faith

So, I'm officially addicted to recreating covers. Good thing that Princess Bookie keeps offering opportunities for me to do what I'm loving to do lately.

The latest cover re-creation contest asks participants to redesign the cover of Losing Faith by Denise Jaden. I love the original cover so much that it's hard to think about doing a better job than the original. But, after about an hour of searching, I think I found an image and a design that I can live with.

So, here's my rationale for my cover. I read the description of the plot of this book and thought that it sounded a bit like an unsolved mystery. I think that this delicate, x-ray photo of this flower sort of gives the impression that something is being revealed. And, I love the way that the black and white color scheme (I played with the colors) makes the flower look ethereal. It's purty and mysterious. Good combination, I think!

Recreate the Cover Contest: Coffehouse Angel

I think that the recreate the cover contests that I've seen popping up all over the place are so fun. Maybe I'm just a huge geek, but I love searching for images and fonts and such to create a cool new cover for a book. But, I don't seem to be alone in this interest, so I'm going to keep showing off my creations.

The latest blog to host a recreate the cover challenge is Trisha's Book Blog. She is giving away a cute coffee mug and a signed copy of Coffeehouse Angel to the winner of this contest.

This one was a difficult re-make because I really love the original cover. But, after lots of deliberation, I decided to re-create the cover and take out the female figure. I didn't want to copy the original too much and wanted to keep the fun feel of the book on the cover. I'm pretty pleased with it, though I still like the original much more.

Recreate the Cover Contest: You Wish

Princess Bookie is at it again! These recreate-a-cover contests are so much fun that I can help but join in! I've not read a lot about You Wish by Mandy Hubbard, but I had a ton of fun recreating this cover! And, if I win (which is doubtful given the talent that turns out for these events), I would win a My Little Pony. And the book. But, a My Little Pony! I loved those little creatures when I was a little girl in the '80s.

So, here is the original cover, which I think is pretty awesome on its own:

And here is my recreation, in which I took the theme in a less pink direction. Not that there's anything wrong with pink. I just wanted to envision a totally different cover for this book. 

It's a little muted, a bit understated. I'm okay with it. I've already seen some other recreated covers that I like better, but I enjoy the challenge of this activity. It's fun. Feel free to join in!
